Our new eyes
To be Christian, to be like Jesus – like God – is to see with new eyes. ‘God does not see as human beings see; they look at appearances, but God looks at the heart’ (Sam 1.16:7). Jesus ‘came into this world so that those without sight may see and those with sight may become blind’ (John 9:39). Pray for the gift of divine sight, to have the ability to see beyond human appearances, to see the heart; to see what is true, to see what is real, what is important. To see with the eyes of Christ.
