The spring within

There is one metaphor which has always symbolised for me the abiding presence of Christ in my life. Jesus, ‘a spring of water within, welling up to eternal life.’ Whatever my circumstances, however far I may have strayed on my spiritual journey, however strong or weak my faith has been at any particular time, I have constantly been able to draw on that ‘spring of water’ for spiritual refreshment, strength, cleansing and renewal. ‘Come to the water, you who are thirsty’ (Isaiah 55:1).
