God’s way
Along with their fellow Jews, Peter and the disciples believed that it was God’s plan that the Christ, the Messiah, would come among them from God to save his people. They also recognised and acknowledged that Jesus was the Christ. But that he should go up to Jerusalem and be put to death was unimaginable. When Jesus declared that this was to be God’s way they protested. It is in faith that we embrace the belief that God did send his own Son into this world to suffer and die for our sins so that we may be saved. The Psalmist rightly asks, ‘Who could ever know the mind of God?’
