Waitangi

The celebration of Waitangi Day and commemoration of signing the Treaty provide us with a special opportunity to pray for our country. We pray that we may live together in peace and happiness. We also thank God for the many treasures with which our land is blessed: the natural beauty of its fauna and flora, the freshness and energy of its lakes and rivers, the wonderful variety of our beaches and coastline and the spectacular mountain ranges that mirror the splendour and glory of God. On this day especially, our prayer echoes the repeated phrase of the Genesis creation story; ‘God saw that it was good.’
