Jesus stresses the need for watchfulness and prayer today. There are so many traps for the unwary. We are sinners who have been saved by Jesus, and are being saved. So we need to beware of backsliding. As Catholics we have the blessing of the sacrament of reconciliation available to us, but that does not eliminate the risk we face daily. So we do what Jesus told us to do in the Gospel: ‘pray at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to stand with confidence before Him.’
