Just listen

If you were to write a list of jobs to do today, where would time for prayer be? Where on the list would the time to read God’s word feature, and time to study the counsel of prophets and apostles, of angels and saints? Are they even there at all? We are so busy these days there’s no time … just as Martha didn’t make time either. In the same way that he asked Martha to stop and listen, Jesus wants us to stop what we are doing for a while each day and listen to him.

Dear God, thank you for reminding me to spend time with you, to pray, to read and consider your word and give you thanks and praise.
