Salt, light and life

The kindness of the widow and her son towards Elijah is rewarded. They will not go hungry despite the famine ravaging the land. God’s gift of life to us is Christ – a gift of eternal abundance not famine. This life is the salt of the Good News. This life is the light of Christ. Christ is zest for our lives. Christ shines forth in our witness. As the widow and son welcomed Elijah, so we welcome Christ. As they are blessed by God and lived, so we are blessed by God in Christ, destined to live forever.
