Mal 3:1-4, 23-24 Malachi and all of the prophets told of the coming of Christ, not as a sovereign power but as a humble peace bearer who would heal division and disempower suffering and death.

Lk 1:57-66 Elizabeth and Zachariah knew their role in God’s plan, so they raised their son John to be humble and point to his cousin as the Christ. They knew the truth for them and prestige was unimportant in comparison to the bigger picture.
