Freedom is found in God

Why does our Lord constantly stress that we must be on our guard all the time, praying for the strength to stay in God’s favour despite the adversity? Why does he want us to free ourselves from everything except love? It must only be because he wants us to enjoy eternal life.

Heavenly Father, I put myself and all I have in your hands. Take all I have - my love, my joys, my sorrows and worries. Fill me with your love and strength and forgive me my sins so I am free to enter your kingdom when you call me.
