Keep the focus

The daily news focuses on the destructive elements at work in the world – war, famine, flood, drought, earthquakes, plagues. Jesus tells us “do not be frightened, for this is something that must happen”. We must keep our eyes fixed on him, our trust placed in him, for in him we find our peace. Just as God had Daniel and his companions bringing good news in the midst of war in those days, so God has his messengers and servants present in every situation of disaster – not to bring discouragement and despair, but to bring life and hope. Let us not be overcome by the destructive elements, but let us be God’s instruments in the midst of them.
