CHRIST THE KING

2 Sam 5:1-3, Ps 122, Col 1:12-20, Luke 23:35-43

Jesus Christ is King of the Universe. He is the eternal word through whom all things, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible were created. He is the word made flesh dwelling among us, who rules from the human heart that has surrendered itself to him. He knows how to rule from the throne of the cross, with a crown of thorns, and with nails for jewels. From there he has pronounced his judgment: “Forgive them, for they know not what they do”. From there he welcomes the repentant sinner: “This day you will be with me in paradise”. Rising from the dead, adorned with his glorious wounds, breathing out his Spirit on his disciples, he offers us a share in the glories of his heavenly and eternal Kingdom, as long as we have the courage to follow the same path which he has taken. He makes this possible through the gift of his Spirit.
