Love your enemy
An enemy is someone who directs some form of evil at another person. This can often be unprovoked, but the innocent person may nevertheless suffer feelings of anger, retribution and resentment. Jesus’ way of dealing with this situation is to reject the attack by overcoming evil with good. The person who has been attacked has firstly to decide not to receive the attack. This can be done by cultivating an attitude of good will, being prepared to give practical help, praying for the attacker and seeing that person as loved by God.
