Psalm 105, Genesis 37:3-28, Matthew 21:33-46
A call to remember
Psalm 105 is a great narrative hymn. The psalmist tells of the wonderful acts of God. He tells how God made a covenant with Abraham and confirmed it with Isaac and Jacob. It was a covenant to provide the people of Israel with the land of Canaan and to make them a chosen people. As God’s anointed ones, they would know God’s protection and daily provision. They would be an “abundant” people. The psalmist exhorts the people to “give thanks … make known … remember”. Remembering helps us acknowledge the past and anticipate the future.
