True fasting

Today we do come face-to-face with the call to Lenten penance. Isaiah makes it very plain just what is being asked of us. Lent is a call above all to a change of heart, to a commitment to care for those poorer and weaker than ourselves, not only to give them charity but justice (a much more difficult thing to achieve). It is not too difficult to give money or assistance, but to actively work for peace and justice, that is a different thing.
