Turn back to Me

How do I regard Lent? Maybe as a penitential time, a time for self-denial, fasting, prayer? Lent is all these things but if we concentrate solely on them we miss a great blessing. Lent is a time to hear the call to turn back to God, to experience anew the immense love God has for each of us. St Paul puts it so beautifully, ‘it is as though God were appealing through us ….now is the acceptable time this is the day of salvation’. A good way to start Lent may be to reflect on that wonderful forgiving love.
