Micah 6:1-4, 6-8, Ps50, Matthew 12:38-42

What does the Lord ask of you?

Micah tells us the answer today ‘this is what the Lord asks of you, only this, to act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God.’ It sounds simple, and it is, but simplicity doesn’t mean easy. ‘To act justly’, more than merely keeping the law I think. It may mean standing up for those suffering injustice, fighting unjust laws, there are many ways of acting justly.

‘To love tenderly’, not just those people I like and care for naturally, but the difficult and unattractive.

‘To walk humbly with your God’, not to set up a God to suit myself or follow my own desires.

Food for thought, and for prayer.
