God is with us

Mary,
The child is heavy in your womb.
Do you recall the day
the angel came?
Do you ponder on the child -
who is he?
Holy Son of God -
foretold by the prophet.
God is with us.

We can think of Mary, hearing of the edict,
preparing for the journey to Bethlehem
and beneath all the bustle, the mystery
of the child. God is with us in all our hustle
and bustle.
