In Praise of Our Women

Much prominence is given to the ‘Twelve’ in the Gospels. However, it is clear that Jesus and those twelve men were supported by many women “who provided for them out of their own resources”. Jesus led a large group in which women played an important, if less public, role. How like today’s Church! Our male bishops and priests lead us but, in our parishes it is the women who, still, are “providing”, giving of their time, their energy and talents in many parish ministries. Where would the apostles have been, and where would we be, without them?
