Birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Happy Birthday Mary!

As the son of Joseph, Jesus was of the tribe of Judah and a descendant of King David. But, as Joseph was not his biological father, all his human genes came from his mother Mary. Jesus inherited all of Mary’s human characteristics. He was truly Mary’s boy. What an extraordinary and special blessing this was for her. Thus “all generations (have called her) blessed”! Today we honour and celebrate the birth of this especially blessed person, Mary, the mother of our Lord and Saviour.
